Who is Matt?
Matt works with clients to design MEP systems. For the majority of his career, he has focused on system design, project management, and construction administration services. His responsibilities include project management and designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial buildings. Matt is one of only three Certified GeoExchange Designers in Kansas. Matt comes from an HVAC family. His dad was a service pipefitter, his uncle (his dad’s twin brother) was a service pipefitter, and his other uncle (his dad’s brother-in-law) was a service pipefitter. While other families get together at Thanksgiving to watch football and talk about world events, Matt’s family talks about chillers, boilers, and troubleshooting HVAC system problems. Matt has completed two Half Ironman races and one Full Iron Distance triathlon. The fact that these were over 10 years ago is irrelevant, and he is still able to hold this over his co-workers, especially Jared Langenfeld. Outside of work, Matt enjoys coaching his three kids’ soccer teams and taking them camping and fishing.
What does Matt do?
According to Jamie (9), Chelsea (7), Spencer (5)…
Designs ventilation and piping systems. [He] designs piping of houses and has meetings to talk about designing houses. He writes on paper.

Lightman…you design lighting and umm…all of the other electrical stuff in buildings? And then you have to go see them to check that it’s all good. You sit in front of a computer all day connecting a lot of lines.

Who is Jared?
Jared enjoys providing solutions for clients and their requirements for the MEP design of their building. He has more than 10 years of experience in providing these solutions. Jared started his career as a design engineer at Black & Veatch, then joined Smith & Boucher in 2013 looking for a more direct impact on buildings. At Smith & Boucher, he took on greater responsibilities for the entire project timeline, from initial schematic design through building turnover to the owner. He also has a passion for guiding young engineers in expanding their technical expertise and learning how to manage a project. In his free time, Jared enjoys automotive racing, running, cycling, and soccer. Not only does he drive race cars, he is also the mechanic for his race vehicles. He doesn’t give in to the excuse of getting old for not competing in marathons like some of his coworkers, namely Matt Pellman. He competes in several half marathons, full marathons, and century bike rides each year and is a Sporting KC season ticket holder.
What does Jared do?
